Free Time

Since I am not the one studying 12+ hours a day, I have a lot of free time. So what does a girl with no money in a (getting more familiar) foreign land do with that time? Here's what...

1. She cooks and bakes. Or at least tries to.
Favorites:
Baked Butternut Squash
Oatmeal Lemon Creme Bars
Baked Oatmeal Casserole
Southwestern Egg Rolls (don't make the Avocado Ranch- we didn't like that part)
Sweet Potato Fries
And these easy fall treats

2. She goes on walks with her friend Sarah (and her little girl Jane). They have wonderful conversations and see the strangest things.

We love seeing this lady and her huge dogs!

3. She applies to jobs and interviews for some of them. (For a job in vascular surgery, the parking garage, each level was given a flower/color. I parked in Purple Tulip and realized that the song playing while I waited for the elevator was singing "tip-toe, through the tulips..." After the interview, I couldn't resist going to every level. Yep, every one had a song to coordinate with it's flower. The only sense missing was smell.)

4. She watches Grey's Anatomy (to feel like she kind of knows what's going on in her life)

5. She reads.
Favorites:

Honorable Mentions to:

The Republic of Pirates by Collin Woodard
(A non-fiction book about how pirates came about, what they did and why. It's a little slow and at times boring. I didn't finish it, but the subject still fascinates me.)

Delerium by Lauren Oliver
(A teen love story, but with an interesting twist (that's why I kept reading). A little thought provoking because it's based on a society that believes love is a disease.

And should you not know what to read next, check out this site.

  1. Where do you find those recipes? Those all sound really strange. Oatmeal casserole? Weird. Miss you!

  2. Um I love you. Period. The End!

No seriously, I basically sit on the edge of the couch waiting for your posts. I love the way you write, the things that are going on in your life, and experiencing a little of your adventure with you. I do miss you more though.
